Mayor Lightfoot made a major statement the weekend after the riots of last week. Today, Sunday August 16, I took a drive to downtown Chicago on Michigan Avenue through the westside of Chicago down Madison Avenue. Chicago is making a statement to its business community. Chicago is responding to the criminal element of the city and businesses can remain confident that CPD is here to protect business and property.

I drove to the Westside next and this is what I saw west of Independence on Madison Avenue.

What are your thoughts? Do you feel safe in the city? Is the mayor’s response proportionate to the threat? Did she overreact? Do we want to live like this to feel safe?
